Shirley graduated in 2000 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communications. She then received her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and was sworn into the Illinois State Bar in 2004. While in law school, Shirley was an active and successful member of Moot Court and the Mock Trial Board. She was a recipient of the Top Litigator of the Mock Trial Competition and received numerous honors scholarships. She has served as a panel judge for various moot court and mock trial competitions and worked for the Thomas M. Cooley Grade Appeals Board deciding on students’ exam grade changes.

Shirley has experience in the area of Civil Rights defending municipalities and insurance defense litigation including premises liability, automobile accident liability, construction negligence, products liability, wrongful death, dram shop, personal injury and general tort litigation cases. She has successfully resolved litigation cases through various arbitration, mediation, settlement, and arguments for dispositive motions.

Formerly an associate at Knight, Hoppe, Kurnik & Knight, L.L.C., Shirley joined the firm of Judge, James & Kujawa, LLC in May of 2007.

Shirley is a member of the State Bar Association.
